New and Improved Skin Care Routine!

Hello everyone!

July and August have brought many new exciting things into our lives (the Olympics!!) and for me, new skin care products is one of them. In July, I kept breaking out, and wanted to control my acne, especially with school starting soon. So I did my research, and now have a new and improved skin routine that cleared up my skin in no time!

Below is a list of every product I use (how I use it and in the order of the routine). Enjoy 🙂

Step 1: Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash

This is the fist step of my face routine (it starts at night btw). The way I use this product is at the end of my shower, I’ll pump some out of the bottle and scrub it onto my face. I use it at the end of the shower because at the end of a shower, your pores will be open due to the heat and steam, so using the cleanser while your pores are open gives you a chance to get them clean. After I am done applying the cleanser, I wash it off and then close my pores using cold water.

Step 2: Clean&Clear Night Relaxing Deep Cleansing Face Wash

Although I have already used a face wash in my routine already, I think it’s a good idea to use another one, just so my skin gets extra clean. Its never fun getting pimples, and I like to prevent them in the best way I can. The way I apply this cleanser is the same as the other one: simply wash my face with warm water, scrub on the cleanser, and wash it off. After I wash it off, I pat my face dry (with a clean towel. Bacteria spreads quickly on towels, so it’s important to have a clean towel to dry your face with).

Step 3: Astringent

Astringent, I’ve heard, is kind of like toner. I don’t really know if it is, but that is what I use to deep-clean my pores (I don’t use toner, but this definitely works!) How I use it is I take a cotton ball or a cotton pad, squeeze some of the astringent onto the pad, and just gently rub it onto my face. Something to be noted though, is that if you have slightly dry skin, the astringent may slightly sting, but its nothing major. Also, the astringent is alcohol based, and does smell like rubbing alcohol. I don’t smell it once its on, but if that scent bothers you, you might want to skip this step.

Step 4: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

I am so in love with this Clinique face moisturizer. I tend to get really dry skin, but once I found this, my dry skin problems were solved. I use it every night, and it really does have ‘dramatically different’ results. My skin is now soft and moisturized thanks to this lotion!!

Step 5: Clean&Clear Persa-Gel 10, 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Cream

A product with a big name, this cream has big results. I apply this cream to every blemish on my face at night (the cream is white, so I end up looking a bit weird at the end lol). That being said, this cream works like magic! This acne cream is maximum strength, so I often see clearer skin the morning after I apply it, which is great. It is a bit drying, but the moisturizer helps balance it out, so its all good! This product is a life saver, and I love using it!

Step 6: Clean&Clear Morning Burst Facial Cleanser

Moving on to the morning part of the face routine! This morning facial cleanser actually comes in a set with the night one, which is so great! The cleanser smells like oranges, makes me feel awake, and even has these bursting beads in them that are full of vitamin C (the beads burst upon contact with your face, giving your skin some vitamin C). Overall, this is one of my favorite facial cleansers!!

Step 7: St. Ives Apricot Face Scrub

This face scrub is actually an exfoliator, and it is just so amazing! It smells like apricots, has a bit of a grainy texture (that’s what exfoliates your skin), and leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh. I only use this scrub twice a week, because over-exfoliating can lead to dry skin, and this is a 110% on the exfoliation factor. However, exfoliating is really important! You have to get rid of all the dead skin that can build up and lead to more pimples. This face scrub prevents that, and I love using it!

Step 8: Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer (with SPF 50)

And onto the final step of my face routine! I cannot even express how important it is to wear sunscreen. Although my skin looks normal now (and tanning looks good), too much sun can lead to dark spots and skin cancer. I used to not wear sunscreen, but then I read about getting skin cancer if you have too much sun exposure, so I jumped into action getting a good sunscreen. I chose this one because I trust and love Neutrogena, and this product is both a moisturizer and a sunscreen! Its not oily at all, and really gives me protection from the sun. I use this every single day, and recommend that you do also.

And that is the end of my face routine! I really hope this post helped you with skin problems (I know these products helped me), and if you do use these products let me know! I’d love to hear about how they helped you. Thank you so much for reading (I know this post was a bit long), and let me know what you think in the comments!
